This is a hands-on leadership role that oversees all aspects of the production operations. The Production Lead ensures efficient workflows, consistent product quality, and adherence to safety and food safety standards. The role works closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to achieve operational goals, minimize downtime, and support continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Production & Team Leadership
Lead, train, and coach production staff on procedures, equipment operation, and product quality.
Coordinate workflow between mixing, processing, and packaging for smooth start-ups and changeovers.
Monitor team performance and provide feedback to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards.
Communicate production updates, issues, and material needs to Supervisors and other departments.
Equipment & Process Oversight
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot production and packaging equipment, including mixers, conveyors, printers, sealers, metal detectors, box formers, and tapers.
Adjust machine settings and monitor product quality to meet specifications.
Report maintenance and sanitation issues promptly and ensure timely resolution.
Verify raw material and packaging supplies are available and accurately tracked in ERP (Plex).
Quality & Compliance
Ensure all finished products meet customer and company standards.
Verify formulations, counts, labels, seals, and packaging integrity throughout the shift.
Conduct and document required quality checks (weights, metal detection, seals).
Maintain compliance with GMPs, Food Safety, and Food Defense programs.
Continuous Improvement & Safety
Promote a culture focused on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Identify and assist with process improvements to reduce waste and downtime.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Participate in daily shift meetings and communicate improvement ideas.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum 3 years' experience in food manufacturing or production operations.
Prior leadership or lead experience preferred.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles a plus.
Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Ability to operate and troubleshoot production and packaging equipment.
Strong understanding of food production processes and quality standards.
ERP system experience (Plex preferred).
Leadership & Communication
Effective trainer and team motivator.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coordinate across multiple departments.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and push/pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
Ability to stand and move continuously during a 10-hour shift.
