A Brief Overview

Provides direct support for transplant services for organ procurements. Position requires air travel to procurement sites throughout the United States.

What you will do

Prepares and packs supplies for travel to procurement site. Prepares back table to prep organ for transplant. Assists transplant surgeon during organ procurement procedures. Maintains a sterile field at all times in the procedure area. Maintains efficiency in handling surgical instruments at surgeon's request. Achieves and maintains working knowledge of procurement machinery and equipment used on the sterile field (i.e., scope equipment, slush machines, kidney pump and electric motors). Assists in transporting of organs from procurement site to Avera. Communicates with host OPO, travel team, and others as during procurement process. Maintains regulatory standards (CMS/OPTN) within scope of practice. Performs other duties and tasks related to organ procurement as assigned.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

High School or GED Equivalent

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

Associate's Surgical Tech program Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) Upon Hire Less than 1 year Previous experience as a Procurement Technologist
