Procurement Specialist

Job Overview:

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for obtaining all the necessary parts and materials needed to complete a project. Through strong vendor relationships, detailed record keeping, and clear communication, this member of the production team ensures that work can flow smoothly with all necessary items on hand when they are needed.

Organizational Structure:

Reports to: Production Manager

Coordinates with: Accounting Manager, Engineering Manager

Qualifications:

Previous buyer/purchasing experience

Experience with supply chain, sourcing, and parts quotes

ERP/database Experience

Shipping-and-receiving experience

Associate degree in Business Management or related field

Responsibilities:

Follow workflows and SOPs

Maintain Vendor Records and Vendor Relationships

Report lead times to project engineers and estimators

Search for best price and delivery on parts

Order parts and materials from Engineering Bills of Materials

Submit POs to vendors

Track incoming parts and materials and inform Production and Engineering of status and update status in ERP

Track receipt of parts and materials and update in ERP

Maintain parts in ERP system

Work with vendors to obtain preferential pricing and delivery

Maintain inventory with shop supervisors

Maintain safety supplies

Maintain office supplies

Report on all purchased parts and materials for projects to develop production schedule.
