Job Description

:



The primary purpose of this role is to perform specimen handling and processing duties. This also includes knowledge of all phlebotomy duties and tasks such as specimen collection, specimen handling and clerical duties. Experienced in phlebotomy and proficient in performing additional tasks such as: in-office phlebotomy, inventory management and testing assistance. The laboratory processor assists the laboratory department in accordance with current applicable standards and as directed by clinic and laboratory leadership. Must maintain accurate and complete records in the department.


Responsibilities:



Proficiently handles, receives, sorts and processes specimens in the laboratory, coordinates tasks accurately and concisely, such as STAT orders and fluctuating workloads, prioritizes work for timely completion, and follows established protocols and procedures. Performs job duties within legal and professional regulations and guidelines, communicates with other staff and patients effectively and professionally. Promotes a team environment, performs phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks and heel sticks, collects and processes and tests hematology specimens, "kit" tests, chemistry specimens, and tests urinalysis, collects, processes, and packages specimens for reference labs, effectively communicates with the patient and/or family member, basing the level of explanation on age and comprehension ability, Participates in all required proficiency challenges without prompting.



Education/Credentials:



High School or equivalent (GED)

Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) preferred

One to three years' experience desired

Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain at time of hire

A working knowledge of physician office laboratory processes and knowledge of Meditech computer systems are desired.

Candidates must have reliable transportation and will be expected to float to other clinic locations as needed.

Location: Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Radiology-Warsaw

Schedule: Full Time, Days 8-hour shifts, Sun 7:30am-3:30pm; M-Thurs 8am-5pm
