Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions

SAFETY/COMPLIANCE


Approves, Manages and maintains all documentation related to material inspections and the resolution of compliance issues. Works with a specialized review committee and other internal teams to approve and coordinate resolutions for non-compliant materials. Advises the RIS Operations team on the safe handling and processing of hazardous materials. Ensures that incoming materials meet all safety and regulatory requirements, including the company's internal analysis and acceptance plans. May serve on the Special Waste Review Committee to help handle unusual or non-standard materials.




OPERATIONS/PRODUCTION


Coordinates and performs additional inspection and testing of waste materials as necessary. Ensures consistency in visual inspection documentation, reporting and reviewing. Provides feedback, trains, and interacts with Receiving personnel, production support personnel, and other technical and regulatory staff. Leads or assists in the coordination of handling special or discrepant waste through repackaging and/or processing. Cross-trains Discrepancy Coordinators as required. Cross-trained in Discrepancy Coordination, driver return or other duties/responsibilities. Serves in rotating on-call function during evenings, weekends and company holidays.




SALES/CUSTOMER SERVICE


Communicates with customers and internal teams to resolve issues related to the compliance of incoming materials. Assists production and accounting staff in reconciling discrepancies in material receipts.




OTHER


Other duties as assigned Requires dexterity to operate a computer and other devices. Understands and helps execute the company's commitment to Occupational Health & Safety (ISO 45001) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field. Strong understanding of assigned waste codes (e.g., RCRA). Expertise in physical/chemical properties, material compatibility, and potential interactions. Familiarity with environmental, safety, and government regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA, DOT). Experience performing in-depth chemical hazard analysis. Experience providing expert guidance and training to operations/production staff. Experience managing and maintaining compliance and material inspection documentation. Demonstrated experience with safe and compliant waste processing/handling. Ability to serve in rotating on-call as needed to support cross-functional teams.



Preferred Qualifications:


Master's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering. Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM). Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or Board Certified Environmental Scientist (BCES). Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 Auditor Certification. Certified Waste Management Professional (CWMP). Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (LSSBB) or Green Belt. (For process improvement/waste reduction) Project Management Professional (PMP). (For coordinating special waste resolutions) PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP). (For managing quick, iterative compliance projects) Direct experience in a hazardous waste treatment, storage, or disposal (TSD) facility. Experience with a Fingerprint Lab or formal QA/QC operations. Experience serving on a Special Waste Review Committee. Proficiency with Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Proficiency in Python (for advanced data analysis, automation, and data cleansing).
