Process Engineer - Plastics (Only US Citizen or Green Card can apply)

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Process Engineer to join our extrusion team in Grand Rapids. This role is central to improving process reliability, film quality, and operational performance across our mono- and multi-layer blown film lines. The ideal candidate brings strong problem-solving skills, data-driven thinking, and a collaborative spirit to help drive one of the fastest-growing areas of our business.

Key Responsibilities

Optimize extrusion processes to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency. Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for blown film lines. Partner with Quality and Commercial teams to ensure products meet customer expectations. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste, increase output, and improve OEE. Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and equipment suppliers on projects and upgrades. Support customer trials and new product qualifications. Document best practices and train operators to strengthen team capabilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Plastics, Mechanical, or related). 3+ years of manufacturing or extrusion experience (plastics or related industry preferred). Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; data-driven decision maker. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including comfort engaging with customers. Entrepreneurial mindset with the energy to thrive in a fast-paced, growth environment.

Preferred Skills

Experience with blown film extrusion equipment. Exposure to polymer processing, packaging, or industrial films. Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma tools. Knowledge of film testing methods or bag-making operations a plus.
