The Lockheed Martin Artificial Intelligence Center (LAIC) team is seeking a high energy professional with subject matter expertise in software engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive AI innovation and adoption across the enterprise.

The selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following functions:

  • Shape and implement the LAIC\'s technical roadmap
  • Define, shape, and implement the processes by which deployed AI capabilities across LM\'s products and programs will be deployed and governed
  • Represent LM products and programs employing AI and serve as a prime spokesperson for executive leadership and senior customers
  • Act as a technical advisor to LM product and program teams deploying and preparing to deploy AI capabilities
  • Collaborate with LMGA and S&BD organizations across LM\'s BAs to drive inclusion of requirements for AI governance in LM\'s products and programs
  • Shape the technical approach, act as a technical stakeholder, and oversee successful transition to program for AI R&D programs
  • Shape the technical approach for new business capture campaigns employing AI capabilities
  • Review and approve technical proposal inputs
  • Mentor AI staff and provide guidance on the practical, governable, and reliable employment of AI in defense applications
  • Identify and shape new opportunities to apply existing LM AI capabilities to new missions, apply new AI capabilities to enhance performance in LM\'s products and programs, and to form new products and programs through applied AI innovations
The selected candidate must also exhibit self-motivation, a strong work ethic, time management and interpersonal skills.

There is a preference for the selected candidate to be based in Shelton, Connecticut or Moorestown, NJ. However, the selected candidate can work at any major Lockheed Martin facility or remotely.

Basic Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in engineering, math, or computer science
  • Broad experience in the application of AI across multiple lines of business and customer programs in a large enterprise
  • Full knowledge of and experience with all stages of the MLOps life-cycle, including data curation and generation, transformation, model selection and tuning, verification, explainability, deployment in real-time production systems, and continuous monitoring of production AI systems
  • Cross-domain technical leadership experience in AI, software, multiple engineering disciplines, and multiple application spaces including computer vision, signal processing, control systems, and battle management
  • Experience leading large teams dedicated to developing, maturing and transitioning innovative AI capabilities
  • Experience transitioning AI capabilities to programs of record
  • Understanding of the state of AI practice and research across diverse USG programs
  • Experience with production software practices and standards
  • Must be a US Citizen
Desired skills
  • Advanced degree in AI or specialization in AI, AI focused publications, AI research track focus
  • Prior AI S&T CRAD capture and successful execution experience with proven track record of next-phase awards and CRAD-to-PoR transition
  • Experience designing, verifying, and deploying AI capabilities under USG Programs of Record
  • Proven track record as an external spokesperson representing AI initiatives, products, and large LM PoRs with inherent AI capabilities
  • Ability to develop and implement technical roadmaps across large organizations with measured success
  • Patents and intellectual property generated with demonstrated value in AI business capture, application of AI, verification of AI, and deployment of AI
  • Active mentees and experience as a technical mentor across multiple organizations in a large enterprise
  • Hands on experience implementing and leading the implementation of AI software for production applications
  • Experience with multiple sensing modalities including full motion video, passive and active radio-frequency, and state of the art novel sensing techniques
  • Program of Record experience with traditional and state of the art battle management systems, including control and use of current and future sensors and effectors
  • Experience with technical leadership of new business capture efforts and leading technical portfolio execution in high security environments
  • DoD TOP SECRET security clearance or ability to obtain
  • SCI security clearance or ability to obtain

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Security Clearance Information

This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
