The Community Engagement Department is accepting applications for its Prevention Specialist position.

Examples of Duties

Prevention Specialist (100%): will work under the supervision of the Project Director/Principal Investigator. General areas of Program Development & Implementation: Design, organize, and lead programs and activities aimed at preventing negative outcomes. Education & Outreach: Deliver educational materials and presentations to individuals, families, and community groups about risks and healthy alternatives. Perform Needs Assessment & Evaluation: Collect and analyze data to identify community needs and measure the effectiveness of prevention strategies. Community Engagement: Build relationships with community members and stakeholders and collaborate with other organizations to achieve prevention goals. Grant Writing and other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Heavy travel required, some overnight stay.

Typical Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's Degree preferred in public administration, public health, health promotion, community health, social work, education, higher education administration or counseling, psychology, or related field with preference for Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or the ability to obtain license. 1 year, 3 years of work-related experience in implementing and facilitating programs; demonstrated experience working with the community; excellent communication and presentation skills required in prevention program delivery; must possess organizational skills. Grant writing experience. * This position works under the supervision of the Project Director/Principal investigator for the MS office of Highway Safety (MOHS) Grant.
