EJRP Preschool has a rare opening to round out its full-time teaching team! We are looking for a kind, knowledgeable, and spirited early educator who can assist in our two classrooms. With little to no turnover in with both our staff and families, we pride ourselves on maintaining a consistent, magical space for the children in our community. The EJRP Preschool was established in 2009 to meet the growing need for quality early education for the children in our community.

This fall, the EJRP Preschool Program will be entering its 14th year of providing a quality preschool experience right in the heart of Essex Junction. Located at the beautiful and historic Park Street School, we provide a full-day, year-round, 5-STAR, licensed preschool program. With an established tradition of providing quality childcare and enrichment programs, we are committed to creating a safe, engaging environment where 3-5-year-old children learn to explore, work independently and in large groups, communicate effectively, solve problems, and truly care for one another. Our program\'s mission is to provide quality early education that fosters the mind, body, and spirit of all children, embraces the connection between home and school, and supports our community, both local and global.

Our Explorers (3/4 room) and Discoverers classrooms (4/5 room) are located side-by-side at Park Street School, providing a unique opportunity for children to progress from one year to the next as they prepare socially, emotionally, and academically for kindergarten.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.Attend to childrens basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.Teach basic skills such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.Read books to entire classes or to small groups.Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.Observe and effectively address childrens inappropriate behavior within the program.Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and report them to the Head Teacher or Preschool Director.Enforce all administrative policies and rules governing students.Lead day-to-day activities and enrichment lessonsBe familiar with VT preschool licensing standards and operate a program and maintain a facility that is in complianceResponsible for the safety of the children in the program at all timesAssist in planning curriculum for classrooms that ensure child-centered and developmental learningDaily communication with parents about what happened throughout the day and how their childs day went.Supervise classroom staff to ensure effective implementation of program activities and adherence to EJRP program standards.Maintain quality and control of classroom that is consistent with VT licensing regulationsMaintaining staff/child ratios in the classroom according to standardsEnsure adherence to EJRP and State of Vermont standards for classroom and facility cleanliness and safetyAdvise EJRP Preschool Director or Preschool Head Teacher of any concerns regarding facilities, space, staffing, or child/staff ratios. Ensure compliance with all state licensing requirementsAs requested, participate in Open Houses, Parent workshops, Fundraisers, and other special eventsFollow all discipline policies as stated in the parent handbookPerform other related duties as assigned by EJRP Preschool Director or Preschool Head TeacherAttend all staff meetingsAttend workshops in accordance with Vermont State regulations (currently 12 hours/year)Maintain confidentialityComplete incident reports in accordance with policies and proceduresParticipate as a member of the EJRP team and contribute to the attainment of the missionSALARY$16.18-$21.99 per hour based on experience and educationSIGN ON BONUS$1250.00 in your first paycheck and then the $1250.00 when probation is completed for a total of $2500.00BENEFITS3 weeks paid vacation to start.14 paid holidays18 sick days per year24 hours of personal timeRetirement benefits include VMERS C, and the ability to contribute to a 457 or ROTHGenerous health insurance benefit in which the City pays 97% of the premium for medical and 100% employer paid for dental and visionComp time and OT availableShort-term disability and life insuranceTuition ReimbursementStudent Loan Repayment
