Ugly Dumpling is hiring Prep Cooks for our upcoming location in Austin, TX!!

Job Overview:

We are looking for reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cooks to assist our kitchen team in preparing high-quality food at our upcoming Ugly Dumpling Austin, TX location! The Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that kitchen operations run smoothly. This role is crucial in supporting the kitchen staff and ensuring guests receive timely and delicious meals.

Key Responsibilities:

Ingredient Preparation:

Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients such as vegetables, fruits, meats, and seafood according to the restaurant's recipes and chef's instructions.

Food Storage:

Properly store ingredients, ensuring that all items are labeled, organized, and rotated according to food safety standards (FIFO: first in, first out).

Maintain Cleanliness:

Keep the prep area clean and organized at all times. Sanitize workstations, utensils, and equipment as required by health and safety standards.

Assist Line Cooks:

Support line cooks by delivering prepared ingredients and ensuring stations are fully stocked with necessary items.

Adhere to Safety Guidelines:

Follow food safety and sanitation protocols, including wearing appropriate protective gear and maintaining proper hygiene.

Recipe Preparation:

Prepare simple menu items such as salads, appetizers, and sauces as needed, adhering to recipe guidelines and portion controls.

Inventory Management:

Assist in receiving and organizing deliveries, checking the quality of items, and reporting any discrepancies or shortages to management.

Waste Management:

Minimize food waste by using ingredients efficiently and following proper storage and portioning procedures.

Multitasking:

Assist in multiple areas of the kitchen when needed, including basic cooking tasks, organizing supplies, and dishwashing.

Requirements:

Experience:

Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required. Entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic are welcome.

Skills:

Basic knife skills, familiarity with kitchen equipment, and a strong understanding of food preparation techniques.

Knowledge:

Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards (ServSafe certification is a plus).

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand for extended periods, handle hot equipment, and lift up to 25 lbs.

Availability:

Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
