Position Summary:

The Pre-Certification Specialist is responsible for obtaining prior authorizations and insurance pre-certifications for procedures, imaging studies, and surgeries. This role ensures timely and accurate verification of coverage to support efficient patient care and revenue cycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

Verify insurance benefits and obtain pre-certifications for all scheduled procedures and diagnostic testing. Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and clinical staff to ensure approvals are received prior to service. Track pending authorizations and follow up as needed to prevent delays. Document all communications and authorizations accurately in the patient record. Collaborate with schedulers, medical assistants, nurses, and billing staff to ensure a smooth process. Stay current with payer requirements and pre-certification policies.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. 1-2 years of experience in medical insurance verification, pre-certification, or billing (surgical or specialty experience preferred). Knowledge of insurance plans, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and medical terminology. Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
