Power Plant Technician

Job Description


:

Technician is responsible for assisting with the maintenance of assets at the power plant and ensuring the equipment is in constant operational readiness. Performing maintenance and repair of plant equipment, including instruments, control systems, electrical systems, and balance of plant mechanical equipment. The individual will support compliance programs for health, safety, and the environment

  • Performance of corrective & preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems.
  • Troubleshooting and testing mechanical, electronic, and electrical systems.
  • Successfully complete company-sponsored training courses and training qualification problems as required.
  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant documents - manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Interact with Operations staff to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Performing high voltage switching operations and lock out tag out as dictated by plant operation/maintenance requirements or as mandated by the system operator
  • Utilize CMMS to create and manage all types of work orders to support plant reliability
  • Assist in ensuring site compliance and reporting with regulatory departments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
  • Two years\' work experience as a technician in a related industry desirable.
  • Experience in instrumentation/controls/electrical test equipment and electrical maintenance in a power plant or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of power plant equipment such as motors, pumps, fans, generators, fluid systems, AC and DC electrical distribution
  • Understanding fundamental principles of mathematics, AC, and DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermodynamics, chemistry, and metallurgy.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Be familiar with procurement (material and labor) and inventory practices
