The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado (USA), is the nation\xe2\x80\x99s primary laboratory for research, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The NREL mission is to develop renewable energy and energy efficient technologies and practices, advance related science and engineering, and transfer knowledge and innovation to address the nation\xe2\x80\x99s energy and environmental goals. This position is within the Renewable Resources and Enabling Sciences Center (RRES), which is part of the Bioenergy Science and Technology Directorate working to advance the technologies to produce bio-based energy, fuels, and products. RRES has an opening for a full time Postdoctoral Researcher within the Synthetic Biology and Bioconversion group.

The successful candidate will work on the discovery of metabolic pathways and enzymes in white-rot fungi and the utilization of these organisms for various biotechnological applications. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team of biochemists, metabolic engineers, chemical engineers, and material scientists.

The successful candidate will be able to:

• Work safely and independently in a laboratory setting
• Plan, execute, and troubleshoot research
• Collaborate effectively with others within and across disciplines
• Communicate scientific results effectively, both in written and oral formats
• Author peer-reviewed publications

Basic Qualifications Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

• Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

Additional Required Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in Biology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field
• Research experience analyzing -omic datasets
• Research experience conducting microbial cultivations
• Attention to detail
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with fungi or other eukaryotic systems
• Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week) Job Profile: Postdoctoral Researcher / Annual Salary Range: $71,300 - $117,600

NREL takes into consideration a candidate\xe2\x80\x99s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
