Business: Boys Town National Research Hospital
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under administrative direction of the coordinator of a research program (director of a laboratory or clinic or the principal investigator of a grant), develops and implements a research program, or specific studies within a research program, in an area of research of importance to the mission of Boys Town National Research Hospital (BTNRH). Postdoctoral research fellows work under the same general guidelines and receive the same compensation as NIH-funded postdoctoral trainees.
The Institute for Human Neuroscience at Boys Town National Research Hospital is revolutionizing human brain research. We have an open postdoctoral fellowship position within the Institutes Brain Architecture, Imaging and Cognition (BrAIC) Laboratory, led by Dr. Doucet. The position is for two years with possibility to renew for another year. Area of research focus is flexible, but demonstrated expertise in human neuroimaging, statistical modeling, bioinformatics, and/or cognitive neuroscience is essential. Applicants with previous experience in developmental neuroscience, big datasets analysis, bioinformatics, machine learning will be given preference, but we are primarily seeking the best candidates to join our Institute. The project that the postdoctoral fellow will work on involves analyzing over 2,000 MRI datasets from adolescents (from publicly available datasets), and will be funded by a NIH grant.
Major research-dedicated tools in the Institute for Human Neuroscience include a new 3T Siemens Prisma MRI system, two next-generation MEG Neo systems, an optically-pumped magnetometry (OPM) system, a mock MRI scanner, high-definition transcranial direct- and alternating-current stimulation (HD-tDCS/tACS) equipment, high-performance computing space, advanced biomechanical equipment, and extensive support staff for neuropsychological testing and participant recruitment.
Successful candidates will have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in computer science, neuroscience, psychology, or a related field, with an excellent publication record for their career stage. They will join a vibrant and rapidly growing group of cognitive neuroscientists in Omaha using state-of-the-art neuroimaging equipment and resources, with significant opportunities within the Institute for career development and promotion to faculty. Postdoctoral research fellows work under the same general guidelines and receive the same compensation as NIH-funded postdoctoral trainees.
The Institute for Human Neuroscience is setting the pace for neuroscience research in the region. Having the Institute directly on the historic Boys Town campus means research findings can be used to improve treatments and help change the way America cares for children and families, everywhere.
