Our lab is located at Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA (Sidney Kimmel Medical College). We are seeking

fresh motivated PhD candidates with strong bioinformatics skills

for a Postdoctoral Research Position in

tRNA epigenetic Modifications in Oncogenesis and in Neurodegeneration.

Our position is

NIH-funded

which offers intellectual growth and the potential for

long-term stability.

We seek candidates with a fresh PhD to apply strong bioinformatics skills to decode tRNA modifications in cancers and in neurodegeneration diseases. This candidate should have

strong bioinformatics skills

and also

basic molecular biology skills or willing to learn these skills

, which will make bioinformatics skills more competitive. Notably, tRNA modifications are the frontier in the central dogma of genetic information transfer from DNA to RNA to protein, where tRNAs are the adaptors and the modifications in tRNAs control the adaptor activity.



? Requirements

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Molecular Biology

, or related disciplines

Strong background in bioinformatics

, next-generation sequencing (NGS), or computational data analysis Previous experience with

bulk RNA-Seq

and bioinformatics pipelines is highly preferred

Proficient with programming languages

(e.g., Python, R) and statistical analysis Willing to learn

basic wet-lab skills of molecular biology

- RNA extraction and gel analysis to put bioinformatics analysis in a larger biological context (having wet lab experience is a plus) Knowledge of RNA biology and interest in

RNA epigenetic modifications

(preferred or willing to learn) Ability to work in a

multidisciplinary research environment

Strong communication

and writing skills
