Job Overview

The Laboratory of Neuroimaging (LNI), under the direction of Nora D. Volkow, M.D., within the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) intramural program, seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the NIH Clinical Research Center in Bethesda, MD. This position will focus on preclinical neuroimaging research in substance use disorders. The fellow will contribute to the development of radiotracers and/or positron emission tomography (PET) applications in animal models of alcohol and opioid use disorders.

Responsibilities include: (1) Assisting with the design, synthesis, bioassay, and radiolabeling of small molecules; or (2) Conducting preclinical PET imaging and data analysis, leading to publications.

Qualifications: (1) Ph.D. in chemistry, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related field; (2) Strong interest in neuroimaging research and radiotracer development; (3) Excellent oral and written communication skills; (4) Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Prior experience in computational drug design, organic synthesis, bioassay, radiochemistry, laboratory automation, or preclinical neuroscience is advantageous, and training is available for motivated candidates.
