Postdoctoral Fellow Department Of Chemistry

Clemson, SC, US, United States

Job Description

Location

Hunter 412

Open Date

Nov 14, 2025

Description

The successful candidate will participate in cutting-edge research on quantum materials, focusing on understanding and controlling emergent quantum phenomena through synthesis, characterization, and modeling. Perform research in the synthesis, characterization, and theoretical understanding of quantum materials. Conduct measurements of physical properties, including magnetization, electrical and thermal transport, heat capacity, magneto-optic responses, and Hall effects (quantum and topological). Carry out optical spectroscopy and coherence measurements (e.g., steady-state and time-resolved luminescence) on qubit and correlated systems. Assist in the development of a semi-quantitative model linking the density of energy states and quantum phase transitions. Contribute to the synthesis and crystal growth of quantum materials using arc-melting, flux, and Bridgman techniques. Assist in preparing and maintaining laboratory instruments and experimental setups. Prepare manuscripts for publication and assist in revising papers written by graduate students. Support preliminary data collection, analysis, and figure preparation for manuscripts and grant proposals. Participate in collaborative research projects and the development of synchrotron X-ray and neutron proposals for beamtime. Mentor and train graduate and undergraduate students, fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment.
