The POST Investigations Lieutenant will oversee the Investigation Bureau for Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). POST Investigations is responsible for investigating allegations of officer misconduct statewide. The qualified applicant will intake complaints, triage and assign cases to investigative sergeants, provide oversight for all aspects of investigations, and oversee notices and other legal processes. Additionally, the Investigations Lieutenant will advise the Director on matters related to policy, suggest administrative rule revisions, review processes, and collaborate with DPS legal counsel.
Requirements:
Current LEO certification from Utah POST is required prior to a conditional offer being extended.
At least 2 years of experience at a Sergeant level or above.
A level III background investigation for those who are given a conditional offer (along with a polygraph, medical and psychological examination) are required for applicants who are not currently officers within DPS.
A qualified candidate shall reside within 50 miles of the POST campus (410 West 9800 South, Sandy) or be willing to relocate, before starting in the position.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
Extensive experience in criminal investigations
Extensive experience in program development
Extensive experience in internal affairs investigations
Exceptional writing skills with direct experience in writing policy, administrative rules, curriculum, and lesson plans
Supervisory experience within law enforcement
