Job Description

The Postdoctoral Scholar will participate in a lab- and field-based research project that evaluates the underlying molecular mechanisms that allow for evolutionary innovation. The postdoc will integrate gene family evolution, genomic changes, and protein function within a phylogenetic framework to address fundamental questions of photoreception in molluscs through designing and conducting gene expression experiments in non-model systems, developing computational pipelines to study gene family evolution, and analyzing and interpreting genomic and gene expression datasets (e.g., genome assemblies, RNA-seq, etc).

Minimum Education Required

Ph.D. degree in Evolutionary Biology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a related field

Required Qualifications

Five years of experience with large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets, demonstrated expertise in designing and analyzing gene expression experiments, a strong background in evolutionary and molecular evolution, proficiency in bioinformatics tools and programming languages (e.g., R, Python), excellent communication skills, and a strong record of peer-reviewed publications. This experience could include graduate level work or other related experiences.

The pay range for this job profile is $65,000 annually. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.

This will be a 3 year term position.
