This position is at the Learning Research and Development Center (LRDC), a multi-disciplinary center for research to advance the science of learning by bringing together leading researchers in the cognitive, social, and educational sciences.
LRDC is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Post-Doctoral Associate to code and analyze classroom transcripts collected as part of a randomized control trial (RCT). The successful candidate will have their PhD and will have extensive experience coding classroom discussions by hand and also experience training raters to code classroom discussions using different scoring rubrics - we use the Instructional Quality Assessment (dimension scores rated 1-4); the Analyzing Teaching Moves (turn-by-turn exhaustive coding); and coding for inference units. The successful candidate will also have experience with automated coding using both Bert-based coding and experience with prompt engineering for gen AI systems such as Llama, Claude, and ChatGPT.
