Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will have experience in the Ports market in the Pacific Northwest region and possess the following skills and experience:

  • Registered Professional Engineer in Washington and Oregon
  • A minimum of 18+ years of experience with Port projects
  • Board-Certified Port Engineer, or the ability to obtain.
  • Experience working with large Port Authorities such as the Port of Seattle and Port of Portland
  • Familiarity with Port industry standards, practices, and regulations
  • Self-directed nature, with ability to work well / seamlessly with a larger team, including outside experts (e.g., financial, legal, regulatory, etc.)
  • Ability to network within a large global organization to bring the best solutions to our clients
  • Management experience for both large projects and teams, for the total delivery of projects from their inception to construction completion and operation
  • Experience managing financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, subcontractors, income/expenses, etc.) to protect company\'s interest and simultaneously maintaining good relationship with clients.
  • Board-Certified Port Engineer, or the ability to obtain.

Salary Range: $127,000 - $160,000 (For Washington Only)

Mott MacDonald is currently seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, and experienced Ports Market Leader interested in supporting the development and growth of the ports market sector for Mott MacDonald. As well as developing new and managing existing client relationships, a key part of the role will be to support the Ports Team with the delivery of Ports and Waterfront projects in a dynamic work environment. The candidate will focus on account leadership for 3 of our focus Port clients in the Pacific Northwest, will direct project team members in the planning, design, and delivery of Port projects, and the personnel development required to facilitate the growth aspirations for the business.

The role will be divisional wide, and will be required to collaborate with our colleagues regionally and globally. Duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Developing new and managing existing Client relationships, in line with our NASA Strategy, as well as interfacing with Clients on proposals and project related issues.
  • Formulating and developing long range goals and objectives for the Ports market sector, coordinating, and expediting activities to attain these goals and objectives
  • Growing external relationships and building and maintaining strong networks with key clients, business partners and competitors, driving joint initiatives where appropriate and using these networks to influence, close deals and impact the growth and direction of the business
  • Development of new opportunities with the major Port facilities and our focus clients
  • Leading business development activities and strategic initiatives related to the Port Market in the Pacific Northwest
As well as those duties that directly support the growth of the Port business, the ideal candidate will have experience in delivering and managing Port projects with the ability to fulfil or as a minimum, support the following duties:
  • Engagement with Mott MacDonald\'s North American Port Practice including support to projects outside of the Pacific Northwest Division
  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting the development of technical staff. Providing leadership in compiling quality deliverables for Port projects
  • Provide technical oversight, review, and guidance in deliverables for Ports projects
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams, nurturing an innovative, challenging, collaborative and high performing work environment, which supports and fosters the Mott MacDonald values and culture where results are driven by a total team effort.
