is seeking applicants for a vacant position in our

SECURITY Department as a

POLICE OFFICER 1-2

who protects lives and property by conducting foot and mobile security patrols, enforcing parking and traffic regulations, rendering emergency services, investigating minor crimes, and making arrests when necessary. Provides a limited range of police services.


POLICE OFFICER 1-2 plays a vital role for the Louisiana Department of Health in the Behavioral Health community by utilizing CLSH's values and mission to deliver quality and effective care to our patients. The hospital is highly committed to cooperative work with other state agencies and with the state and regional mental health program to insure the integration and coordination of hospital-community services into a comprehensive system of mental health care.




Minimum Qualifications

No experience or training is required.



NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.



Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.



Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.



An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

Serves as a first responder who is responsible for law enforcement and the safety of patients, visitor and staff on campus. Provide emergency services by responding to assist calls and investigating accidents/incidents that occur on CLSH Grounds. Patrol hospital grounds to detect unusual activity, also writing incident reports. Stands guard at the hospital's front gate and maintains a vehicle log with driver's license, license plate numbers, and destination of vehicles entering the grounds to ensure the safety of CLSH patients, staff, and visitors. Provides assistance to nursing staff with risk rounds, precautions, hall monitoring, etc. Provides essentials to units during emergency situations. Provides coverage during increment weather or crisis situations.


Position-Specific Details:

A class D driver's license will be required before appointment.



Preference may be given to Central Louisiana State Hospital employees.



Appointment Type:

Job appointment, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Transfer.

Compensation:

Position is eligible for premium pay of $2.00 per hour.

Career Progression:

This positionmay be filled as a Police Officer 1 or 2 depending on the level of education and experience of the selected applicant.

Schedule:

Night Shift 11pm-7am; Saturday-Wednesday
