Description
The City of Jefferson is now accepting applications for a Police Information Clerk for our Police Department. This position Processes reports and lawfully disseminates to various law enforcement agencies, state and federal agencies, other City departments, and the public. Provides data and information support (documents and records) for the Police Department to ensure the department has adequate and accurate information.
Examples of Duties
Understands and has knowledge of Missouri State statutes and Jefferson City municipal code and ordinances. Reviews and process offense and arrest reports for dissemination to the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney and Jefferson City Municipal Prosecutor, while maintaining compliance with Missouri and Federal Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR/IBR) standards. Tracks dissemination of Missouri Criminal History records according to statutory guidelines. Review and process citations, accident reports, and tow reports for dissemination to various agencies including but not limited to: Missouri Department of Revenue, Michael W. Prenger Family Center, Cole County Court \xe2\x80\x93 Probate Division, tow companies, and Missouri Department of Corrections \xe2\x80\x93 Probation and Parole. Enters court dispositions into cases and arrest reports, ensuring proper documentation and accuracy. Enters data into the state-maintained DWI tracking database. Maintains the accuracy of records within the record management system.

Responds to requests for reports by citizens, city clerk, police personnel, media, and insurance companies while respecting and maintaining the confidentiality of the information protected by the statute defining the Missouri Sunshine Law. Collects fees, logs dissemination, and keeps records of all related transactions. Prepares weekly report of all money collected and report to the finance department. Log requests and prepare monthly billing to agencies with charge accounts. Deliver mail and court bonds to Municipal Court.

Greets and assist citizens at the lobby window with questions, complaints, and problem-solving. Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate personnel to ensure calls are resolved quickly and effectively.
Typical Qualifications
Physical: Ability to sit up to eight hours a day at a computer and operate various office equipment. Ability to pick up and deliver reports to outside facilities on a daily basis. Mental: Ability to concentrate at a computer the entire day; establish and maintain effective working relationships; prioritize and organize work; work with the public in a calm and effective manner; and manage multiple tasks.

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. An Associate\'s degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience is preferred. Excellent computer skills and the ability to learn complex programs.

Must be able to type a minimum of 45 net words per minute. Records retention and open record guidelines knowledge preferred.
