Women\'s Basketball Player Development Specialist Reporting to the Head Coach \xe2\x80\x93 Women\xe2\x80\x99s Basketball, this individual will have responsibility to serve as the primary liaison between the student-athlete and all University and athletic departments. Primary duties include coordinating specific aspects of monitoring student-athlete player development in areas of academic performance, student conduct, and student welfare. This positon will provide daily monitoring of academic support to the Women\xe2\x80\x99s Basketball student-athletes under the guidance of both athletic compliance and SAAS.

Must be committed to the academic and athletic development of all student athletes. Adherence to all University, ACC and N.C.A.A. policies and procedures. This position includes: Academic Oversight Oversee and supervise basketball initiatives as it relates to player academic support. Direct the summer school program for current student-athletes and incoming freshman Supervise At-Risk athletes planning and organizational meetings Supervise player class checks
Liaise with Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS) on support provided to players
Conduct weekly Freshman academic/wellness meetings
Report academic performance and progress to coaches and staff
Assist the SAAS staff and attend the weekly basketball academic support meetings

Player Development
Execute player enrichment program designed to engage players personally, socially, and academically as they navigate college life
Direct basketball student-athlete transition to campus programing (Undergrad & Grad). This includes First Year Experience, mid-year orientation programming for both undergraduate and graduate students
Direct the completion of university module programming
Direct the community service program for basketball student-athletes
Direct programs and services to enhance student-athlete personal growth
Direct, coordinate and manage basketball student-athlete player development agenda and its implementation
Direct basketball internship program
Periodic scheduled meetings with select student-athletes to progress and monitor their well-being
Weekly freshman and at-risk student time management meetings
Liaise with Director student-athlete development for BC athletics
Financial Aid application facilitation
Player wellness facilitation (player in hospital, player staying off-campus for COVID\xe2\x80\xa6)

Alumni Relations
Coordinate basketball alumni relations in bringing players back to campus and getting them involved.
Coordinate local alumni speaking with team
Coordinate Alumni Resource Group to provide current student-athlete with career advice and mentorship
Work with marketing to coordinate events that increase awareness and engagement, which will help attendance

Student-Athlete Mental Health
Assist the basketball medical team with the basketball student-athlete mental health objectives.
Collaborate and assist on-campus mental professionals and designated medical group physicians with the development of expanded mental health care options for basketball student-athletes
Assist with the facilitation of counseling services for failed drug tests, alcoholism and substances of abuse
Assist coaches looking to have student-athletes meet with a sports psychologists
Assist coaches looking to have student-athletes meet with specialists regarding depression, anxiety, general mental health concerns.
Work with university counseling and medical group to develop a comprehensive student-athlete mental health plan of care

Student Affairs \xe2\x80\x93 Student Conduct
Liaise and work with Student Affairs as it relates to violations of the code of student conduct as it pertains to basketball student-athletes.
Assist with notifying coaches and student-athletes of violations to the code of student conduct.
Assist in the execution of the university sanctions. Working with student-athletes to remove holds and following-up with the completion of sanctions

Special Projects
Drive specific assignments and projects as directed by the head basketball coach.

Requirements

Must possess viable knowledge of NCAA rules.

Good organizational, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with college student athletes, athletic staff, University personnel and Alumni. Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree preferred 3-5 years minimum experience in developing and mentoring athletes at the NCAA Division 1 level, or higher, with strong experience in basketball.


Extended hours including night and weekend work will be required for this position, especially during the competition season. This position will be expected to travel with the team to select away games and to work all home games.
