Job Summary:

The Plant General Manager will plan, manager, and oversee our North American operations based in Olive Branch, MS. The role will report to the VP, Operations. Chervon is embarking upon building a manufacturing competence in North America and this role will be a key leader in making this strategic initiative a reality.

The role will be both a ramp up and continuous operations role. For the first year, Chervon will be focused on standing up our first manufacturing facility in North America. Key deliverables will include managing production line and knowledge transfer from our overseas partners, establishing our first manufacturing plant \xe2\x80\x93 project management, P&L responsibility, and cross collaboration with all supporting functions, ramping up production to be on time, on cost, on capital by the end of year one.

As the second year commences, the expectation is to ensure production is stabilized while expanding production across the startup plant along with pursuing additional plant expansions within the region. Our initial plant will focus on finished items that go into kitted finished goods. Our intended expanded plan include assembly and finished goods packaging across various locations in North America (US & Mexico).

The successful incumbent will need to be adept at both operations strategy and execution. The role will require talent identification, team formation, and coaching in a quick moving, fast-paced startup environment. Being able to manage both horizontally and vertically across Chervon along with key supplier engagement are also critical success factors.

  • PMC \xe2\x80\x93 Production Materials Coordinator
  • Plant Supervisor with leads and production associates (provided by 3PL)

  • Industrial Engineer (reports to VP, Product Development)
  • Quality Engineer (reports to VP, Product Development)
  • HR & Administrative (reports to Director, Human Resources)
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Plans and organizes from annual to monthly activities related to production and operations. Ability to dive into daily activities as needed to aide in startup related transfer and coaching.
  • Measures productivity by analyzing performance data, financial data, and activity reports. Sets goals that are aligned with both corporate initiatives and build manufacturing competency within region.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other support departments such as human resources, product development, quality, finance, and logistics to ensure both successful production operations and regional competency building.
  • Sets annual budget preparation for operations unit. This should include close coordination to ensure quality, throughput, and financial obligations are met. The annual budget should also identify needed direct and indirect costs structures. Set KPI\xe2\x80\x99s against budgets.
  • Ability to source raw materials that are both engineered and commodities. Close coordination with product and engineering teams will be necessary to ensure success.
  • Works closely with teams across the organization to ensure production layouts and processes are operated as designed. Works within the organization to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Assists with, or prepares and updates, organization\xe2\x80\x99s operations manual and policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Hires and trains new employees.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of operations and production management.
  • Ability to interpret financial data as needed to set production goals.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams or similar software.
  • Ability to speak Spanish as 2nd language is preferred.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Business Management, Business Administration, or related field required; M.B.A. preferred.
  • Prior similar successful working experience in a similar/startup operation.
  • Knowledge of sub-assembly, electronic assembly, lithium battery operations a plus.
  • Five years of related startup experience required; Fifteen years of relevant career industry experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position has responsibility for the entire management of our Olive Branch, MS plant operation.

Travel:

This position requires up to 10% US and international travel.

Upon hire, this individual will be required to train for up to eight weeks in Chervon\xe2\x80\x99s global corporate headquarter office in Nanjing, China.
