The Controller is a key member of the plant leadership team and reports directly to the Plant Manager. This role provides strategic financial leadership across all aspects of plant operations. The Controller is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of the plant's budgeting and business planning processes in alignment with established policies and practices. In addition, the Controller delivers financial insight and guidance to plant leadership, offering data-driven recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and overall site performance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Manage all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P, G/L, Inventory/Cost Accounting and Revenue Recognition.
Manage month-end closing and prepare monthly financial statements and other operational reports for site.
Analyze variances and communicate explanations to management with recommended actions.
Prepare forecasts of income statement, balance sheets, and statement of cash flows for the Plant.
Must work across organization boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant or owner objectives.
Integrates and trains new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team.
Shares best practices across joint venture finance team, e.g. process improvements, financial modeling and procedures changes.
Provides proactive / unsolicited consultation, interpretation and education of complex financial and operational matters to various departmental leaders used to drive business decisions.
Collaborates with Plant Manager, other management to explain results, make improvements, manage projects, identify inefficiencies, understand operations and lead the development of complex analysis.
Monitor and implement plant internal controls as necessary to ensure reporting integrity, safeguard company assets, and identify risks.
Ensures proper accounting in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles as well as other statutory requirements.
Estimate product costs to support quoting activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in plant or manufacturing accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory management, and GAAP.
Experience in a metals, foundry, or recycling environment preferred.
Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally and support both financial and operational goals.
Physical Requirements
Primarily office-based with routine interaction on the plant floor.
Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
Occasional travel to corporate offices or other plant sites may be required.
Work Environment
Split between office and plant settings. Frequent exposure to molten metal processing operations and outdoor environmental monitoring conditions.
Resources
The Controller will work with representatives from Tennessee Aluminum Processors, Inc. ("TAP") and Tri-Arrows Aluminum, Inc. ("TAA") to achieve the goals of the Joint Venture. TAP and TAA maintain certain expertise, experience and systems that will be available to support KAP and the KAP Controller.
Pay: $96,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
