Summary: This position ensures the accurate and timely accounting and reporting of information including, but not limited to inventories, production, raw materials, assets, expenses, etc. for his/her production facility. Responsible for the accuracy of weekly and monthly P&L reporting. As part of the facility's Plant Management Team, this position provides a voice to others on sound accounting practices and fiscal responsibility through hands-on and detail-oriented leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for oversight of plant accounting P&L estimates, period close journal entries, business analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, deductions and claims processing. Interpret and support accounting and inventory cycles and process flows as they relate to individual or multiple business transactions. Focus on reconciling plant floor reporting, material receiving, and accuracy of shipping/sales.
Provide reports and interpret the results of his/her plant performance, including the preparation of financial statements and operating data, the coordination of systems and procedures, and special reports as required. Ensures all monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines for accounting and financial reports are met, and reporting is timely and properly prepared for corporate financial management.
Actively owns researching, tracking, and resolving accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies. Assists in the preparation of various financial planning reports through the analysis, projections, and forecasts of appropriate data. Analyzes financial income statements, makes appropriate recommendations and reporting variances. Oversees month-end, quarterly and annual closing processes.
Has responsibility for providing the plant unit and its management with the appropriate financial and operating information necessary. Ensure optimum performance of the function by working collaboratively and proactively with other department groups on problems involving accounting systems and financial planning. Makes recommendation and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and effective practices
Reviews the plant's financial statements for completeness, accuracy and reasonableness, including consolidated monthly cash flow statements and quarterly consolidated income statements. Produces weekly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, summaries and analysis for Executives, auditors, and bankers as appropriate.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business with 3 years previous experience as a controller for a 300M + food manufacturer required or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in the protein-industry is preferred.

Must have at least 3 years of related experience working with a recognized accounting software., knowledge of Sage 100 ERP preferred.
Strong working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications with emphasis on Excel, and basic skills in computerized accounting techniques.
Ability to solve a wide range of complex, multi-disciplinary problems that must consider intermediate and long term company-wide planning.
Capability to deliver presentations regarding potentially controversial issues, which involve negotiation, and influence positive outcomes among groups of varying positions.
Aptitude to improve existing systems or procedures that periodically result in new ideas or approaches of considerable significance.

This position also participates in vacation and sick leave pay programs. The salary range for this position is $81,300 to $101,250 annually, based on experience and qualifications. This position is bonus eligible, however, anyone who commences employment after the beginning of the bonus plan period is eligible for a prorated portion of any bonus deemed earned and payable if he or she is hired and active prior to 180 days before the bonus plan period ends.
