Under general supervision, supervises and performs professional planning and or zoning work, serves as a senior land use planner for the Department of Permits, Approvals, and Inspections.
Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of an assigned unit of professional and support personnel engaged in planning, zoning, land use and related activities.
Coordinates the unit's activities with the work of other units and agencies within the County.
Prepares and presents reports of unit activities.
Supervises the development, review, commenting and analysis of concept plans, landscape plans, community plans, site plans, development plans, limited exemption plans, minor subdivision plans, zoning petition plans, zoning use permit plans, zoning administrative approval plans and other plans and related documents.
Reviews planner comments to assure consistency with appropriate zoning regulations, planning policies, development policies and other guidelines.
Resolves conflicts with developers, community groups, builders, engineers, surveyors, attorneys and other county or state units or agencies.
Reviews and comments on development proposals. Reviews petitions to change zoning designations.
Makes recommendations to the Planning Board and County Council.
Oversees and supervises the agencies or division's GIS functions and the office automation computer systems.
Assists in the development, modification, and administration of the zoning regulations, and other planning or zoning policies, legislation, and guidelines affecting zoning and land use.
Conducts and participates in meetings with community groups, advisory groups, representatives of other County and governmental agencies, developers, builders, engineers, surveyors, attorneys and others regarding planning, zoning, land use and development issues.
Serves as a senior planner on various committees or for special projects for the agency or division.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree plus four years' professional planning, zoning, development, or land use experience.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree plus five years' professional planning, zoning, development, or land use experience.

Annual Salary review
