We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapy Assistant to join our outpatient therapy team. In this role, you will work closely with licensed physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care, assisting in the rehabilitation and recovery of geriatric individuals with various physical challenges. Your expertise in physiotherapy techniques and patient management will be essential in helping patients achieve their therapeutic goals.
Duties
Assist physical therapists in implementing treatment plans for patients undergoing outpatient therapy.
Perform trigger point therapy and other physiotherapy techniques as directed by the supervising therapist.
Provide direct patient care, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for rehabilitation.
Maintain accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment sessions, and care plans.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and adjust individualized care plans based on patient needs.
Educate patients and their families on exercises, home health strategies, and discharge planning.
Utilize knowledge of anatomy and physiology to assist in the assessment of patient conditions.
Support patients in various settings, including assisted living, independent living, memory care, and home health scenarios.
Work with diverse populations including geriatrics, orthopedics, and those requiring specific areas of need.
Requirements
Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Experience in outpatient therapy settings preferred; clinic experience is a plus.
Familiarity with discharge planning processes and care plan development.
Previous experience in working with a geriatric population.
Excellent communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
