Job Summary Sizer School, a North Central Charter Essential School, is seeking a driven, dynamic and experienced high school physical education teacher to be a part of our instructional team. This candidate will bring a passion for supporting and implementing best instructional practices, and a commitment to further promote an already existing positive collaborative teaching and learning environment. Only those candidates with a deep passion for the Sizer School mission and ready to teach in and be a part of an exemplary, innovative public middle/high school need apply.ResponsibilitiesTeaches a high-quality and coherent physical education curriculum that is relevant to students and promotes their learning.Demonstrates strong knowledge of the Massachusetts Health and Physical Education Framework.Designs standards-based units of instruction and lesson plans with measurable outcomes and challenging tasks.Demonstrates instructional and classroom management practices that establish high expectations and create a safe and effective classroom environment.Adapts instruction, materials, and assessments to make challenging material accessible to all students, including English learners and students with disabilities.Acts as an Advisor to a group of students and works to shape curriculum and practice to support the whole student.Reflects on the effectiveness of lessons, units, and interactions with students, both individually and with colleagues, and uses insights gained to improve practice and student learning.Participates in school-wide and subject specific professional development and grade level team meetings.Promotes the learning and growth of all students through culturally proficient, skilled, and collaborative practice. Ability to create and use authentic resources and materials to motivate student to participate in physical educationUtilizes informal and formal assessment methods to measure student learning and growth.Utilizes data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and identify students in need of targeted instruction/interventions.Motivates and engages students and promotes opportunities for students to generate understanding on their own through real world applications.Uses inclusive instructional practices to account for differences in students learning needs.Sets and upholds high standards for student work, effort, and behavior.QUALIFICATIONSDedication to the Sizer School missionThorough knowledge of curriculum design, MA Common Core, and assessment toolsBachelor Degree or higher in Physical Education or comparable field from an accredited college or universityHighly qualified to teach in the assignment area; MA DESE License with SEI Endorsement preferred.
