Physical Education Educator

to guide children through daily fitness, sports, and wellness activities in our After-School and Summer Enrichment Programs. If you love being active, enjoy working with kids of all ages, and want to make a meaningful impact in your community, this is the role for you!

POSITION SUMMARY:

Lead a group of children in After-School and Summer Enrichment Program physical education activities as well as guiding/helping the children adjust and grow within the program guidelines. Comply with and participate fully in the instruction of gym games, athletics, and health/wellness education programs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



Plan and implement daily curriculum for children during out of school time which teaches various athletics, sports fundamentals, sportsmanship, and health and wellness. Plan and implement weekly gym classes and/or wellness activities with the AYCC Preschool program and with homeschool or other community groups. Demonstrate willingness to participate in all areas of the After-School Program. Maintain and organize gym equipment, advising on needs and creating a yearly budget with the program supervisor. Understand the organization's commitment to providing a healthy and safe workplace environment.

Team player Display role model behavior Organizational skills Attention to details Ability to observe student behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce relevant safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill level) and provide necessary instruction to children. Excellent communication skills along with the skills necessary to work with groups of children made up of different ages and skill levels. Emotional and mental maturity along with training or skills in problem solving. Ability, desire and basic skills to work with children are mandatory. Exemplify sportsmanship and good values of physical fitness and overall health.

WORK SCEHDULE:

Position is part-time 25 hours/week during the school year with up to 40 hours in the summer enrichment program.


Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:



High School diploma or equivalent. A degree or some college education is preferred in the area of Community Health, Athletics, or Physical Education.

EXPERIENCE:



Minimum of two years of work experience working with children. * Must have CPR/First Aid certification or be willing to become certified.
