Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Photography Coordinator in the Office of Marketing and Communications supports the role in telling the University of Marylands visual story. This Photographer/Photo Coordinator will possess skills and creativity to conceive and capture high-quality images that support the university\'s communication\'s strategies. The incumbent will collaborate with teams within Marketing and Communications to create visual content, including still images and galleries for use in publications, emails, websites, social media channels and for the external media. The incumbent will also coordinate research, the maintenance of assets and production for Maryland Today and Terp and other projects as assigned for our strategic partners, including University Relations and the Office of the President.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
B.A. degree in photojournalism, fine art or commercial photography, art or related field.

Experience:
Minimum of two years of professional photography experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience with innovative and modern photography techniques to capture compelling images
  • Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Illustrator, Photo Mechanic and a digital asset management tool
  • Ability to juggle projects under deadline pressure and amid changing priorities
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships in a diverse work environment
  • Ability to work independently
Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Experience using professional lighting for portraiture
  • Experience using Canon cameras
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Physical Demands

Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The majority of the work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short/long distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
