Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Phlebotomist to join our team in a Family Medicine clinic that also supports a Pediatric clinic. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with patients of all ages--from pediatrics to geriatrics--in a supportive and collaborative environment.



The ideal candidate will be confident in performing blood draws across all age groups and comfortable running and resulting rapid tests. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential, as this position serves as a key liaison between the clinic staff and the laboratory. We're looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, provides excellent customer service, and thrives as part of a team.

Pay:

Starting at $18/hour, with rate negotiable based on experience

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday through Friday position (8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch)

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Administrative duties: Providing excellent customer service, answering phones, and monitoring for instrumentation alarms. Technical responsibilities: Performing venipuncture for blood collection, obtaining additional specimen types as required, and preparing all samples for lab testing and screening. Accurate data management: Verifying specimen information, performing data entry, and properly identifying patient information. Specimen handling: Receiving, processing, and packaging samples for referral labs while maintaining specimen integrity. Compliance: Following safety protocols, HIPAA policies, Medicare rules, and participating in quality assurance. Flexibility: Covering work shifts at different sites as needed to ensure smooth operations.

Education & Certification:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Required:

+ Minimum of 1 year of on-the-job phlebotomy experience

Preferred:

+ Pediatric phlebotomy experience or willingness to learn pediatric draws
+ Experience performing and resulting rapid tests

Skills & Competencies:

Strong computer and data entry skills Excellent time management and organizational abilities Effective communication and problem-solving skills Positive and reliable team member with a strong work ethic Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Physical Requirements:

Laboratory setting with automated equipment emitting ambient sounds. High level of staff interaction in close quarters; must hear alarms to ensure timely response to safety needs. Regular handling of potentially infectious samples, with required protective gear (lab coat, gloves, goggles, face shield). Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, crawl, twist, and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the day. Frequent bending, extended standing, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Flexibility to work extended hours or overtime as needed.

OSHA Category:

This role involves exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues, with Hepatitis-B vaccination offered to all performing these duties.
