Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The employee is responsible for providing a high level of compassionate care to patients, as well as technical, clinical, and clerical support to physician. They must work collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team. They are also expected to uphold an exceptional level of empathy, safety, and professionalism at all times.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

-Assessing vital signs

-Preparing patients for examination

-Collecting patient medical history and information and documenting it appropriately

-Properly disposing of waste and contaminated materials

-Sterilizing instruments

-Assisting during examinations and procedures

-Collecting, preparing, labeling, storing, and transmitting laboratory specimens

-Preparing and administering medication, including injections

-Performing venipuncture and phlebotomy services

-Preparing and cleaning examination rooms

-Transmitting prescriptions to both local and national pharmacies, including compounding and speciality pharmacies

-Providing patient education in a clear and easily understandable manner

-Following and executing standing orders provided by physician

-Completing prior-authorizations and pre-certifications

-Tracking medical supplies, maintaining supply organization and inventory

-Answering telephones, returning patient phone calls

-Clearly documenting, charting, and updating patient medical records

-Maintaining patient confidence and protecting operations by keeping information confidential

-Ensuring operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniques

-Fostering a cooperative relationship among the health care team by communicating information correctly and efficiently and participating in team problem-solving methods

-Protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations

-Identifying patient care requirements by establishing personal rapport

-Nurturing a calm and compassionate environment by providing physical and psychological support to patients and their guests

-Assuring exceptional care by adhering to therapeutic, regulatory, and clinic standards

-Providing an extremely high level of customer service

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Communication Skills. The employee must be an active listener in order to understand and accurately record patient concerns and specifications. They must also be capable of clearly articulating instructions to patients and effectively communicating information, both written and spoken, to the entire healthcare team as well as other health care professionals working with the patient.

Phlebotomy, Injection, and Laboratory Skills. The employee is expected to be highly competent at venipuncture, and injection protocol, ensuring patient and personal safety and maintaining necessary supplies. They must properly perform basic, CLIA-waived, in-office laboratory testing, and properly prepare, label, store, and transmit to the correct laboratory facility.

Medical Knowledge. The employee should have a strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic medical procedures, especially in the area of women's health. They must be willing and open to learning about all aspects of sexual medicine, vulvovaginal disorders, hormone therapy, metabolic disease, specialty procedures, and all other offerings of Haven Center. Knowledge of first aid and CPR is required.

Patient Education. The employee should be skilled at providing patient information and education on a variety of subjects related to gynecology, sexual medicine, vulvovaginal disorders, hormone therapy, metabolic disease and management, as well as various products and therapies offered at or through Haven Center.

Knowledge of Safety and Sanitation. The employee must be aware of personal, patient, and staff safety at all times. They are expected to maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all procedures, rules, and regulations and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; medication administration and storage procedures; and controlled substance regulations. Understanding and practicing proper safety and sanitation protocols is essential.

Computer Skills. Computers are vital to a number of administrative tasks and organizational procedures. A strong understanding of basic computer skills is required, but no specific software knowledge is needed. Experience with Apple products and the Mac operating system are preferred. The employee should be well-versed in proper patient care documentation and charting within an EMR system.

Assisting Physician. The employee must chaperone patient exams and assist physician with all areas of patient care, including patient assessments, assisting with in-office procedures, administering nitrous oxide to patients, and other related tasks.

Customer Service Skills. Providing an extremely high level of customer service is of utmost importance. The employee must treat all patients with sensitivity and respect at every interaction, whether in-person or on the phone. They should have a calm and reassuring demeanor and nurture patient relationships through empathy, compassion, discretion, and an extensive knowledge base.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
