Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws for laboratory testing
Properly label, process, and prepare specimens for in-house testing or external laboratory pickup
Verify patient identity and explain procedures clearly to ensure patient comfort and understanding
Maintain specimen integrity and follow all infection control and OSHA safety guidelines
Document all procedures accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
Monitor inventory and assist with ordering laboratory and phlebotomy supplies
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Provide excellent customer service and maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance)
Assist clinical staff as needed to support patient flow and care delivery
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and compliance audits as required
Required:
High School Diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited Phlebotomy training program
Phlebotomy certification (ASCP, NHA, AMT, or equivalent)
Current CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
Preferred:
Previous experience in an FQHC, community health center, or outpatient clinical setting
Experience working with diverse, underserved, or vulnerable populations
Familiarity with EHR systems
