Job Description

In this vital role, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing medication inventory, and ensuring accurate patient records. Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including oral, topical, and IV infusions. Assist with medication intake processes by reviewing prescriptions, verifying patient information, and ensuring proper documentation. Maintain meticulous inventory records for medications, supplies, and equipment, including ordering and restocking as needed. Support patient service efforts by answering medication-related questions and providing clear instructions for medication administration. Follow strict aseptic techniques during sterile compounding procedures such as IV infusions to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate medication delivery and administration within hospital or acute care settings. Ensure compliance with medical terminology standards and pharmacy regulations during all tasks. Assist in the training of new staff members or interns to uphold high standards of pharmacy practice. Perform routine quality checks on medications and supplies to maintain safety standards. Document all pharmacy activities thoroughly in accordance with regulatory requirements.



Proven pharmacy technician experience, preferably within LTC pharmacy or hospital environments. Critical care experience is highly desirable to support complex medication needs in acute settings. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and aseptic techniques. Experience with IV infusion preparation and sterile compounding procedures. Familiarity with hospital workflows, medication intake processes, and patient care coordination. Excellent attention to detail to ensure accuracy in prescription processing and inventory management. Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare teams and patients to promote optimal care outcomes. Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) is required; ongoing education in acute care or critical care pharmacy is a plus.
