Weston County Health Services is seeking a

Full-Time Pharmacy Technician

in our

Hospital Pharmacy

. These positions are responsible for compounding and dispersing medications and pharmaceutical supplies, preparing and filing drug charge slips, and performing various other technical duties of the pharmacy. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

This position does not require a pharmacy technician certification. On the job training will be provided to obtain the certification.

Essential Functions:

Promotes the mission, vision, and values of Weston County Health Services (WCHS). Receives, prepares, and processes all labels and prescription orders after Pharmacist has determined appropriate medication dosage and directions for inpatient, emergency, long-term care, and clinic needs. Selects medication from shelves and fills order to be checked by Pharmacist. Completes data and prescription entry into pharmacy dispensing systems. Prepares, and processes medications through billing systems. Reconciles multiple forms of payments against charges. Prepares all medication with labeling that is in compliance with pharmacy regulation. Leaves filled medications with order and original drug container to be checked by the Pharmacist. Manages, and receives orders, checks against invoice, labels with stock number, and expiration date and stocks shelves as needed. Quarantines and packages up all outdated goods and returns incompliance with BOP, DEA, OSHA. Assists with maintaining pharmacy databases under the supervision of a pharmacy. Performs non-sterile compounding and repackaging following all applicable laws and USP guidelines. Completes cross training with competencies to support coverage in Weston County Health Services community pharmacies. Maintains cleanliness of all areas of the pharmacy, non-sterile and pharmaceutical machines and equipment. Completes daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning requirements for pharmacy. Maintains, and stores all files required dispensing, billing, tracking, and recalling of medication in compliance with federal, state regulations. Assures proper charging and crediting of all medication and supplies in compliance with Medicaid and Medicare and commercial insurance requirements. Answers telephone takes messages and refers all questions regarding medication orders, drug information, poison information, or other clinical matters to the Pharmacist. Coordinates appropriately with medical staff and other departments to ensure efficiency. Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines. Assists in completing required reports, program reviews and preparation. Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers, and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community. Maintains a professional, organized, and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards. Completes assignments in a timely manner. Assists visitors with directions whenever requested. Always introduces self to patients, residents, families, and visitors when appropriate. Reports safety hazards as appropriate. Replenishes supplies as needed. Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and Isolation Precautions. Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties. Has the ability to do work on his/her own with normal supervision. Observes safety-precautions and maintains a safe, clean, work environment. Has the ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Has the ability to read and understand equipment operation manual. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives, maintain good employee relations, and interdepartmental objectives. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, trainings, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops; shows responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education and learning. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent Current Wyoming License required or if Pharmacy Tech in Training, will receive license within 2 years of start date. Able to pass and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing and working on a computer. Occasional after-hours calls may occur. Must be able to access, find, and navigate each department at WCHS. Positions requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry. Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
