to join our Pharmacy team! This position will primarily work at the Frederic, WI location, but flex to St. Croix Falls when needed.Work hours are typically Monday through Friday, day hours.
The Pharmacy Technician, IV is responsible for supporting the pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, maintaining accurate drug inventory, and ensuring proper documentation of pharmacy activities. All tasks are performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in accordance with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

IV Admixture Preparation
Compound sterile intravenous (IV) solutions, chemotherapy, and other high-risk medications
Operate laminar airflow hoods and cleanroom equipment in compliance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards
Ensure aseptic technique and maintain sterile compounding environments

Medication Stock and Inventory Management
Receive and verify medication deliveries, ensure all items match purchase orders, and distribute them appropriately within the pharmacy department
Manage medication inventory outside of the pharmacy, including floor stock and automated dispensing units (e.g., Pyxis), assess shortages and replenish as needed
Maintain an optimal inventory of medications to meet the facility's daily needs while minimizing waste and avoiding overstock
Monitor and document expired medications, ensure timely removal and proper disposal in accordance with regulatory guidelines
Ensure medications are stored under proper environmental conditions and secure all inventory to prevent diversion or misuse
Order, label and count medication, chemical, and supply stock; update inventory records using pharmacy information systems

Other duties:
Assist customers and healthcare staff by answering routine questions, locating medications or supplies, and refer clinical inquires to a pharmacist
Respond to telephone calls promptly and professionally, addressing general inquiries or routine calls appropriately
Assist in resolving medication billing discrepancies and collaborate with billing staff to ensure accurate charge capture
Support pharmacy audits by gathering required documentation, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
Requirements: Education & Licensure:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board is required within 12 months of hire
Must be registered in Wisconsin to work in a pharmacy at time of hire
Experience:
Minimum two years of Pharmacy Technician experience preferred
IV admixture, automated dispensing machine knowledge preferred
