Assist the Site Manager/Pharmacist-In-Charge with tasks in the pharmacy. Respond to and resolve insurance questions, process prescriptions, and address issues quickly and accurately. Provide and promote exceptional customer service, assist in preparing and dispensing medications and supplies, enter new and refill prescriptions in the computer system, work with physician offices to obtain refill requests, handle cash register transactions, receive patient prescriptions, unpack/verify stock-to-invoices and help maintain the pharmacy in proper order.
Responsibilities
Receive prescriptions from patients and gather appropriate information. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as assigned, including counting, pouring and labeling prescriptions. Process manual prescriptions including Medicare B, VA Medical, and Worker's Compensation, in an efficient and accurate manner. Complete special orders to meet customers' needs.
Verify insurance and resolve issues in a manner that will serve the customer's needs. Address third party prescription questions, which may include prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, price check and drug utilization review.
Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately; including entering refill authorization requests and entering and calculating complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system. Utilize the reporting system as necessary.
Respond to internal and external customer questions and concerns in a professional and customer-focused manner. Handle cash register transactions quickly and accurately.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma/GED
Any retail and/or pharmacy experience.
Pharmacy Technician MN
Pharmacy Technician National Cert
Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) For those employees who perform immunizations
For those employees who perform immunizations Complete APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration for the Pharmacy Technician program Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program
1 year retail and/or pharmacy experience.
