Join our healthcare team as a Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly impact patient care and medication safety. In this role, you will assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing medication inventories, and providing exceptional patient service within a LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy setting. Prepare and dispense medications accurately under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, including oral, topical, and other formulations.
Assist with medication intake processes by verifying prescriptions, entering data into pharmacy systems, and ensuring proper documentation.
Maintain meticulous inventory control of pharmaceuticals, including ordering, stock rotation, and proper storage to ensure medication integrity.
Support critical care facilities and hospice units by providing specialized medication preparation.
Ensure compliance with medical terminology standards and pharmacy regulations during medication preparation and distribution.
Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions related to medications and billing, addressing patient concerns with professionalism.
Assist with providing medication administration records, ensuring accuracy in dosage and timing for optimal patient outcomes.
Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication workflows within acute care environments.
Document all activities thoroughly in accordance with policies and pharmacy protocols to maintain accurate records.
Proven pharmacy technician experience with a strong understanding of medical terminology and medication management processes.
Prior experience working in LTC pharmacy, is highly desirable. But not mandatory.
Ability to handle intake procedures efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to patient care and communication.
Strong organizational skills for inventory management and documentation accuracy.
Certification as a pharmacy technician (e.g., PTCB or equivalent) is preferred, but not mandatory; ongoing education in pharmacy practice is required. (OBOP, CE requirement)
Knowledge of pharmacy policies regarding medical terminology, medication safety protocols, and procedures is essential.
