We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting pharmacists in delivering high-quality patient care within a hospital or acute care setting. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology and pharmacy operations, particularly in critical care environments.
Duties
Summary: Duties include but are not limited to filling prescriptions, security and accuracy of operations, insurance and patient billing, assisting with inventory control and ordering.
Responsibilities:
Provide outstanding customer service.
Responsible for following all federal, state, DEA, pharmacy board regulations, safety guidelines, as well as policies and procedures of the Gainesville Pharmacy
Responsible for inputting prescriptions for new fills and refill accurately per the prescribers order: (patient, provider, NDC, dosing, refills, dates, signatures, directions, drug-drug interactions, drug-allergies interactions and DAW coding). Prescriptions may be electronic, faxed or hand delivered.
Responsible for filling prescriptions and delivering them to the pharmacist for review.
Responsible for checking the electronic system throughout the day for electronic prescriptions and processing promptly.
Responsible for insurance processing, collecting accurate information, deductibles, coinsurance and copayments.
Responsible for patient billing, AR management, delivery and mail orders, phone call reminders, and mailing statements.
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, demographics, insurance, and allergies.
Demonstrate a good working knowledge of the pharmacy management system and practice management system.
Responsible for reviewing all medications within the patient profile at each point of contact or refill request as well as verification of appropriate follow-up appointments with the patient's provider prior to refilling medications.
Responsible for assisting with unpacking and distributing orders and updating inventory as needed.
Responsible for notifying the pharmacist of inventory issues or the need to order.
Responsible for "stickering" drugs appropriately.
Technician is responsible for communicating refill readiness to the patient.
Answering phones and/or returning phone calls to patients promptly.
Responsible for assisting in the coordination and delivery of medications.
Placing refill reminder calls and follow-up on said calls.
Responsible for POS management and ensuring that all transactions are processed appropriately.
POS reporting and accuracy of daily deposit.
Responsible for ensuring that returns are made weekly per the practice guidelines.
Participating in annual or biannual inventory
Other duties as assigned by the management.
Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries and ensuring patients understand their medications.
Monitor inventory levels, restock supplies, and ensure the pharmacy area is clean and organized.
Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance knowledge of pharmacy practices and medical terminology.
Skills
Strong patient service skills with a focus on compassionate care.
Proficiency in medical terminology relevant to pharmacy operations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in medication dispensing.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License
Bilingual English/Spanish is a must
Accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to handle stressful situations and being able to work expeditiously to meet customer's expectations.
Effective communication skills
Knowledge of advanced math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
Desired Previous Job Experience:
Previous comparable retail experience
Must be registered through the State board of Pharmacy or willing to do so in near future.
