The Pharmacy Educator reports to the Pharmacy Operations Manager. Under limited supervision, the Pharmacy Educator develops and conducts education programs that enable staff to acquire and maintain the knowledge, certification and skills necessary to support operational and organizational goals. The educator will lead onboarding for pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, interns and residents while also assisting with standard work creation and continuing education. This individual will assess staff for competencies on an annual basis and provide additional education for large process changes or technology implementation.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
Facilitates effective communication in the pharmacy department articulating the status of team vision/goals as well as how the department fits into the division's strategic plan and business operations service model.
Organizes and facilitates competency model for pharmacy including standards of work, regulatory compliance, automation/equipment and other areas directly impacting the quality of work thru the Pharmacy Department.
Monitors progress with staff education and compliance with various regulatory requests (continuing education, licensure, personnel documentation for accreditation, etc.).
Establishes policies and procedures, standards of work and work instructions for the department and assigns staff as appropriate to review for practice for practical application.
Coordinates these records to ensure that they are consistently up-to-date and meeting current practice standards.
Serves as the primary resource for all ambulatory pharmacy systems and processes.
Partners with Pharmacy Master Trainer on new initiatives and training updates.
Role may fill in for coordinator or supervisor as needed Role will support other Performance Improvement projects as needed.
Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
