OBJECTIVE:

To provide pharmacy support services during clinic operating hours at the Coville Indian Health Center. The purpose of the work is to improve the overall health care status of the eligible American Indian, Alaska Native patient population served. Most contacts with patients are through phone or in person. Additional support involves processing prescriptions, checking prescriptions, and counseling. The primary purpose is to provide prescriptions and services to the patients.

The Pharmacist shall provide pharmacy support services during clinic operating hours as scheduled not to exceed 40 hours per week. Regular hours of clinic are from 8:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00am to 5pm on Friday.

The Pharmacist will perform pharmaceutical services to focus on therapeutic drug monitoring. Analyze medication regimens to ensure the most effective, least toxic, and most economical treatment plan. Evaluate medication regimens for appropriateness, drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, non-compliance and adverse drug events. Serve as a therapeutic consultant to the medical staff. Accurately fill, check, and dispense prescription and over-the-counter drugs on orders of physician, optometrist, physician assistant, family nurse practitioner, and dentist. Assist patients and clinic staff at the windows and on telephone. Counsel patients on the use, storage, cautions and side effects of all medications dispensed as well as documentation of cognitive services provided. Administer routine vaccinations to patients.

The Pharmacist may also assist in managing drug inventory and supply including placing drug order with prime vendor, putting away daily pharmaceutical order, stocking shelves, and notifying full-time staff of drug or supply shortages.

Requirements

The Pharmacist should be proficient in pharmacy database such as/similar to Electronic Health Records (EHR) and RPMS; ScriptPro and Script Pro Central; and Pyxis MedStation and CII Safe.

Be a graduate of an accredited pharmacy program/school.

Be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
