Job Overview


We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide essential support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly seniors and those requiring specialized care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient well-being and demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a home community care setting.

Duties



Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning. Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment. Monitor client health and report any changes or concerns to healthcare professionals. Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being. Support clients with mobility assistance and transfers as needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect client privacy. Assist with memory care strategies for clients experiencing cognitive challenges. Utilize first aid techniques when necessary to ensure client safety.

Skills



Proficient in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary needs. Strong cleaning skills to maintain a hygienic living space for clients. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality. Experience in social work or related fields is preferred. Familiarity with home community care practices and senior care protocols. Ability to monitor patients effectively, recognizing signs that require medical attention. Certification in first aid is a plus. Experience in memory care techniques for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments. A compassionate approach to caregiving, demonstrating patience and empathy at all times.

Experience


Preferred qualifications for the Personal Care Assistant position include:

PSS Certificate or able to get PSS Certificate within 9 months and start the class within 2 months of being hired. Background in social work or related fields is a plus. Prefer one (1) year experience in the care of clients. Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. Prefer a High School diploma or equivalent.
