Position Summary:
PERIOPERATIVE SUPPORT ASSOCIATE/ANESTHESIA participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Participates as a member of the perioperative nursing team.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of the specialized equipment and supplies utilized by the anesthesia staff.
Restocks the anesthesia supplies and/or equipment in the Operating Room after each case as needed.
Under the direction of the anesthesia staff, cleans the equipment utilized in the delivery of anesthesia cases.
Assists the registered nurse and anesthetist in transporting patients.
Under the direct supervision of the Registered nurse and anesthetist, assists with positioning of patients for procedures.
When not assigned to anesthesia support duties, will be assigned to PSA I tasks and duties.
Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
May have limited access to areas storing medications.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Evidences self-direction and personal accountability for their work practice and demonstrates responsiveness to departmental and facility needs.

Demonstrates a positive attitude when interacting with patients, their families, visitors, other employees, physicians and other associates.
Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary surgical healthcare team in both large and small work settings.
Participates in PI activities as assigned.
Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, patient rights and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.
Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the perioperative setting.
Qualifications:
Education/Training
High School diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification
Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
Experience
90 days experience as PSA 1, CNA, or Clinical Technician; or
Currently enrolled in or completed a Nursing, Surgical Tech or Medical Program
