Job Overview


Career and Recovery Resources Inc. is looking for a Peer Support Specialist to join our team. This person is responsible for supporting participants involved in the UpRise Workforce Group. Peer Support Specialists' duties include's listening, encouraging, coaching, empowering, working alongside peers at worksites, and collaborating with CRR team members to connect peers to resources that suit that individual stability needs. This critical role assists in the workforce development and life stabilization role.

DUTIES AND TASKS



Planning and Implementation



Develops relationships by providing support and encouragement that will enhance consumer's ability to take action against barriers. Respects the rights and dignity of everyone at all times. Develop empowerment and resiliency skills through self-advocacy. Takes responsibility for personal stability at all times, and models self-responsibility. Encourages participants to attend meetings/support groups, and supports their effort. Help identify activities and resources for their peers and to encourage utilization of these resources on a regular basis. Be conscious of the language used to describe life and how to recreate troubling events using language that offers more options. Coach peers about life skills in a work environment. Facilitate groups alongside life-skill/work-skill coaches when possible. Share experiences. Attend Peer support trainings sessions as determined necessary. Participate in meetings as required. Complies with agency policies and procedures in completing any required documentation. Complies with agency policies and procedures and demonstrates professional, ethical, and confidential conduct in all work behavior. 100% Driving

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS



Computer Skills



To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic proficiency in database software; Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. Knowledge and experience in data management, preferably in a nonprofit setting.

Language Skills



Ability to read and write at a professional level: to read, analyze, interpret and implement general business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to gather data, analyze information and interpret information to build useful and required reports or presentations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE



High School Diploma or GED, Texas Identification, Certified Peer Specialist or obtain certification within 90 days of employment Certified Peer Specialist or certification obtained within 90 days of employment Interest in helping people overcome barriers to stability and ability to motivate others to gain self-sufficiency. Lived experience, productive participation, or successful completion of agency program. Valid DL- Clear Driving Record Required Drive a Vehicle with trailer attached Knowledge of all lawn equipment

Agency Compliance



1. Consistently at work and on time, ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrives at meetings and appointments on time

2. Follow instructions; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to complete additional work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan

3. Read, understand, and follow CRR Policies and Procedures

4. Maintain appropriate levels of documents regarding files, reports, correspondence, personnel, and financial paperwork

5. Attend meetings as scheduled

6. Communicate proactively and professionally with peers and stakeholders through phone and emails

7. Follow all regulatory requirements for reporting suspected abuse or neglect

PHYSICAL DEMANDS



The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
