Job Description

Bold Steps Behavioral Health is seeking Peer Support Specialists to join our team within our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This on-site role supports clients engaged in primary mental health and integrated substance use disorder (SUD) treatment, helping foster engagement, accountability, and a supportive recovery environment.

The Peer Support Specialist works closely with clinical and operational staff to support daily programming, client engagement, and recovery-oriented services.

Key Responsibilities



Peer Support & Client Engagement



Provide recovery-oriented peer support to clients throughout PHP/IOP programming Support client orientation, engagement, morale, and adherence to program expectations Model recovery principles, healthy boundaries, and Bold Steps core values Assist with crisis situations and collaborate with the treatment team as needed

Group Facilitation & Documentation



Facilitate or co-facilitate assigned peer-led and psychoeducational groups, including 12-step-based groups Complete required group notes and client documentation accurately and on time Support attendance tracking and assist in preventing unauthorized absences (ASAs)

Daily Operations & Program Support



Assist with intake documentation and client orientation processes Support food service and daily program logistics Transport clients as needed using the company vehicle (appointments, approved activities) Conduct client urine analysis (UA) screenings and complete related documentation Assist clinical and operational teams with day-to-day program needs

Collaboration & Compliance



Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary treatment team Ensure client and peer compliance with Bold Steps policies, procedures, and safety standards Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries at all times

Qualifications



Required



High school diploma or GED Minimum of one (1) year of sustained sobriety Valid driver's license and ability to transport clients Strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills Ability to manage crisis situations and follow clinical direction Comfort working in a structured, team-based treatment environment Computer proficiency and ability to learn EMR systems

Preferred



Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) and/or Peer Support Certification 12-step experience Prior experience working in SUD and/or mental health treatment settings CPR certification (training provided if not currently certified)
