JOB DESCRIPTION

PEAK Genetics has an opportunity available to join our barn staff as a Livestock Specialist - Bull Handler in Shawano, WI! In this role, you will be a member of a highly skilled team supporting the daily care, health, and collection of our elite bulls. This team is also responsible for the maintenance of the facilities and equipment. As a Livestock Specialist for PEAK Genetics, you will be surrounded by people who are passionate about the agriculture industry, bovine genetics, and client satisfaction. HOURS AVAILABLE

- Monday-Friday, 4:30am - 1:30pm, rotational weekends and holidays

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production Work in a system using established protocols Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks Operate company farm equipment and vehicles Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

Comfortable working with large animals Willingness to learn and follow company protocols Must have a valid driver's license Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods of time Ability to move safely through a tight space of 13-15' to exit livestock pens in case of emergency

Desired

Previous livestock handling experience Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field

Ideal

Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office
