: Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Operator



Summary:

The Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Operator uses automated systems to identify defects such as opens or shorts. AOI Operators are crucial to ensuring the quality of printed circuit boards by detecting defects early in the manufacturing process. The AOI Operator job requires technical skills to operate and troubleshoot AOI equipment, analyze inspection results, communicate findings with other teams, and adhere to quality standards.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:



Operate AOI equipment:

Run and monitor automated inspection (AOI) machines to scan and capture images of PCBs.

Manual inspection:

Use magnification tools, such as a microscope, to perform a secondary visual inspection on defects flagged by the machine to reduce false calls.

Identify defects:

Analyze inspection results to find defects such as shorts and opens.

Analyze data:

Evaluate inspection data to ensure quality standards are met.

Troubleshoot and report:

Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, report defects, and document findings.

Collaborate with teams:

Communicate with quality, engineering, and production teams to resolve technical issues and improve processes.

Maintain records:

Keep quality control and inspection records up to date.

Follow quality standards:

Adhere to quality control standards and support audits as required.

Education and Qualifications:



High school diploma or equivalent.

3-5 years' experience operating AOI equipment and quality control in PCB/electronics manufacturing.

Must be able to read and write English.

Ability to analyze data and identify defects.

Ability to read and interpret work instructions and assembly drawings.
Ability to use computers and software for inspection and data analysis.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with different teams.

Must be detailed oriented to ensure high-quality inspection.

Strong technical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Education and Qualifications:



Certifications: IPC-600 and J-STD certifications are preferred.

Physical Requirements:



Ability to stand for long periods.

Ability to walk though a manufacturing facility, up and down stairs and around manufacturing equipment.

Vision Requirements

: Ability to see small details, distinguish between colors, and ability to adjust focus when using different magnifications.

Ability to lift 15-30 pounds.

This position requires access to controlled technical data and/or participation in activities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). As such, all applicants must be U.S. persons, as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizens, U.S. lawful permanent residents, or individuals with refugee/asylee status). Pay: $20.75 - $22.50 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
