We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Clerk to join our accounting firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. This role requires proficiency in various payroll and accounting software, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of financial concepts. The Payroll Clerk will play a vital role in supporting HR functions related to benefits administration, data entry, and account reconciliation. Responsibilities
Process payroll using software such as Quickbooks and ADP.
Ensure accurate data entry of employee hours, deductions, and benefits information
Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for general ledger posting
Manage benefits administration related to payroll including deductions and contributions
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
Assist with accounts payable and receivable related to payroll expenses
Perform account reconciliation and analysis to ensure accuracy of financial data
Support non-profit or governmental accounting functions as needed
Handle tax-related processing including tax filings and compliance requirements
Maintain detailed records of payroll transactions and employee information
Collaborate with HR department on employee data updates and benefits management
Skills
Proficiency in payroll management software such as ADP & QuickBooks.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation
Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or other financial management tools
Familiarity with financial concepts related to payroll processing and benefits administration
Excellent data entry skills including 10 key typing accuracy
Ability to analyze financial data accurately and efficiently
Knowledge of tax regulations related to payroll processing
Strong understanding of human resources functions related to payroll and benefits
Experience with account reconciliation procedures and technical accounting practices
Effective communication skills for collaboration across departments
